REACh - Registration, Evaluation, Authorization of Chemicals
REACh (Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals), the
most significant change in the European Union’s (EU) chemical management
history, entered the force June 2007. While REACh is an EU regulation, it
applies to materials coming into the region from around the world, making the
law a global compliance matter.
The Objective
REACh aims to better protect human health and the environment as well as
enhance the competitiveness of the chemical industry by fostering innovation.
Dow Corning supports the principle of a more effective chemicals
regulatory system in order to deliver sustainable health and environmental
safety benefits.
Our Commitment
Dow Corning’s REACh Readiness Team is working with raw material suppliers and
downstream customers to establish the additional information required to ensure
compliance. Dow Corning will pre-register substances in its current portfolio
for which it has responsibilities and obligations to do so under REACh. Once
the pre-registration is complete, we will determine which substances will be
registered according to the REACh implementation timeline.
