For the second consecutive year Working Mother magazine has selected
Dow Corning as a Working Mother 100 Best Company. In addition to a profile in
the October issue of the magazine, along with other 100 Best employers, Dow
Corning is prominently featured in a story titled, How They Did It. The
article showcases the Working Parents Support Network (WPSN) and the steps the
group took to build a successful lactation program for new mothers.
“We are proud to receive this honor,” said Stephanie Burns, chairman,
president and CEO. “Inclusion on this list recognizes the great strides we’ve
made to improve our overall Work-Life Effectiveness programs at Dow
Corning.”
Although Working Mother does not publish the exact number placement of the
100 Best, Dow Corning received information on how it scored compared to all
other applicants. This year, Dow Corning improved its overall ranking to the
top 40 from the bottom 20 last year. Dow Corning scored above average or
high for flexibility, time off and leaves, total compensation, company
culture, and family-friendly programs.
“We will continue to look for new and innovative ways to enhance work-life
balance for Dow Corning employees and our families,” said Derek O’Malley-Keyes,
vice president of Human Resources. “In today’s global marketplace, providing
employees with flexibility and options will be more and more important in
sustaining the company’s success.”
“Dow Corning is exceptional for its continuing commitment to working
mothers, and we salute them for making the 100 Best for the second time,” said
Carol Evans, CEO of Working Mother Media. “Every year we see companies upping
the ante, establishing new paradigms for quality of life among their employees
and redefining the status quo for workplaces across the country. Among the many
worthy entrants, the winners really set the gold standard.”
