According to Harry Mika, Dow Corning is a “chemical engineering
playground.”
“I’m amazed at the degree of responsibility and the range of opportunities
Dow Corning offers young engineers. You’re not isolated. You get to see and do
a lot of different things. At HSC, I was able to hit the ground running; and
within 15 months, I was in charge of key projects. I wouldn’t have had that
level of opportunity anywhere else.
“People really listen to you here ... even if you’re wrong! They let you
learn. It’s a very ‘user friendly’ company to work for – genuine and
unique.”
As a manufacturing engineer at HSC, Harry spends his days “firefighting” –
averting breakdowns, troubleshooting the manufacturing process and finding ways
to continuously improve it. It’s an ideal job for someone like Harry who likes
thinking “on his feet” and “out of the box.”
