What is the Community Advisory Panel?
The Community Advisory Panel (CAP) is a group of approximately 25
people from the local area around the Barry Industrial Complex who serve
voluntarily to represent local interests. Some of the members represent
neighborhoods close to our plant, others represent residents’ associations and
community councils. They have a wide range of backgrounds - including business
people, councilors, school teachers and students.
The members meet on the second Tuesday of every other month with managers
from Dow Corning and the managers of other industrial companies in the
Industrial Complex. At these meetings, the panel members ask questions about
our performance, hear updates on different elements of the sites’ operations
and raise any issues that might be of concern locally.
Why do we link with the community in this way?
As part of our commitment to Responsible Care®, we aim to communicate openly
and honestly with people who live close to our site. The Community Advisory
Panel is one way to have a regular open dialogue with representatives from the
local neighborhood.
