The following provides a brief summary of the Community Advisory Panel (CAP)

what each company manufactures and an explanation of the common acronyms used
in the industry was given.

initiative called 5S (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, self discipline).

improved. The CAP members visited a Dow Corning production area to see how 5S
was being implemented a production environment.
June
In a new weather tracking and modeling tool was shown to the CAP in June.
The system is being used by Dow Corning. The CAP members were interested
in the software’s ability to back plot wind data and how it may be used to

monitoring done by the UK’s Environment Agency (EA) in the area around the

Police on their role in a major incident at the industrial complex. Several
questions were raised by CAP members.

the UK energy situation were presented as well as the options companies were
considering.
