Concern for safety and safeguarding the environment is fundamental to the
way we operate the Barry site. Continuous improvement in environmental, health
and safety performance is a key goal for the site. We recognize that good
standards of performance in these areas will contribute not only to the success
of our business, but also to the well being of our neighbors, employees and
society.
Health, Safety and Environmental Reports (Responsible Care®
Reports)
Each year we report on our performance for you to see what progress we are
making. We report all aspects of health and safety including employee health
and safety, process plant safety, distribution, product stewardship, community
links, emergency response and pollution prevention. Recent Barry
site Health, Safety and Environment (EHS) Reports are available to

Environment
The safekeeping of our environment is a core value of Dow Corning, upon
which the quality of life depends. Air, water and land around the site are
monitored constantly as part of our unrelenting drive to prevent and reduce
pollution. Our goal is zero spills and zero emissions, against which we measure
our performance and progress. We are also highly regulated by the UK Environment
Agency.
In 2006, the Barry site was granted its new Integrated Pollution Prevention
and Control (IPPC) permit. This specifies the maximum levels of pollution we
are allowed to release. The guidelines make sure that the amounts are
environmentally insignificant. Nevertheless we work to continually improve
on our performance.
