Community service examples
Dow Corning Corporate Center employees raise money to help fight
disease. They give students real-life opportunities to learn about careers in
science, technology, engineering and math. And they reach out to families in
need. Here is a sampling of the many things they are doing to make a difference
in your local community:
Annual Harvest Table Lunch – For 18 years, Corporate Center employees
have donated what they would typically spend on lunch for one day to help the
City Rescue Mission
of Saginaw provide Thanksgiving dinner and emergency shelter to
homeless individuals and families in Saginaw, Michigan.
Salvation Army Adopt-A-Family Program – Every December, employees
bring joy and hope to local families who are facing financial hardships by
“adopting” them. The employees find out what each family needs and work
together to meet those needs – from the ingredients for a holiday meal to
clothing, toiletries, cleaning supplies and other necessities for the family
and its children. Corporate Center employees have participated in the program
for more than a decade, and the number of families they are able to help each
year continues to grow.
Jackets for Jobs Clothing Drive –Employees collect gently worn
business clothes, shoes and accessories and donate them to Jackets for Jobs, Inc., which provides
professional clothing and training seminars to economically disadvantaged
individuals and helps them prepare to successfully enter the workforce.
Food Donations to Hidden Harvest – Every week, cafeterias at the
