  • Maureen Donker welcomed Brenda Sauve as our new staff assistant from Dow Corning.
  • Mike Snyder invited the CAP members to JHTRT (Joint Hazardous Materials Technician Refresher Training). The Midland Fire Department’s Hazmat technicians will be participating in this training. It is extremely valuable and is targeted towards responders. Mike also announced that 7 new (lighted) signs have been purchased. These signs will aid in road closures and warnings if needed. The signs will be placed around the Midland Site in public road right-of-way. They will be installed by year-end, and can be activated by dialing 911 or DC, at 1-800-TELL-MORE. Cost for the seven signs is $70M.
  • ACTION: An updated CAP members list will be sent out with the minutes.
  • The new ‘Shelter In Place’ video and brochure will be distributed throughout the community this fall. Copies will be available for CAP members at the Oct meeting.
  • Future CAP meeting minutes will be shortened, but will include proposed actions. Minutes will also be placed on the DCC website. CAP members are encouraged to offer critique and feedback on the new format for their meeting minutes.
  • Maddox updated the CAP on the potential lead exposure concern in 501 Building from Sandblasting. Blood tests showed no exposure problems. The MiOSHA investigation is still not complete.
ACTION: Follow-up when MiOSHA investigation is complete.

Maddox updated the CAP on the Work Force Reduction program. DC is reducing 600-800 employees (globally), 250-300 tri-county employees.

Maddox also stated that a new business strategy will be forthcoming.
ACTION: Update when available.
