Maureen distributed 2002-03 highlights to everyone.

Ian gave a brief update on activities that had taken place over the summer at
the Midland Site. He also discussed our future challenges including
affordability, reliability & customer service.

Ian introduced Kevin Campbell & his new expanded role with the CAP. Kevin will
be focusing on new opportunities to help promote the Midland Site within the
community. Kevin is replacing Chuck Bond. Thanks Chuck for your many years of
dedication and participation to the panel.

A copy of Dow Corning’s Sustainability Summary Report for 2002 was also
distributed to panel members.
1. Phenyl Intermediate Expansion project (Marci Sewell)
Marci presented the new product launches on several new products including
hair care, anti-per spirants and weather proofing sealants. Midland Site is
the sole supplier site for Phenyl material. She also discussed the new process
for 556. This effort is key for support of future manufacturing & jobs at the
Midland Site. Marci also covered options that would improve a financial
attractiveness for future capital investments supporting these product lines.
Work is ongoing with local and state agencies to successfully complete this
endeavor.
Update on Power Outage (Mike Snyder)
Mike updated the CAP on the several safety items. *304 building small
leaked that was contained on August 13, 2003. *Power Outage Crisis – how
the Midland Site response team helped comply to reduce power with minimal
disruption to their continuous processes at the Midland Site. *Staged
terrorism drill @ Dow Chemical. Many procedures were tested and minor changes
were made. *Another staged terrorism drill will be taking place in Bay
County later this fall.
Update on the 60th Anniversary celebration at the Midland Site (Brenda
Sauve)
Brenda discussed the details of the celebration event that is taking place on
Tuesday, Sept. 30th. The celebration will include a catered picnic luncheon
for all DC employees and co-ops. A complimentary DC gift bag will also be
distributed to each employee.
