Minutes of Meeting -- Tuesday 2nd of March

Members Present:

Start-up/Announcements: (Maureen)

  • February meeting minutes will be approved at a later date. Brenda will send them in an email.
  • Our May CAP meeting will be held at Cabot. More details will be forthcoming.
  • Kevin Campbell asked the CAP members what they thought about having a Community leaders breakfast at the Midland Site. Panel members were asked to think about what groups might be interested in participating in this (i.e. Kiwanis, Rotary, etc.) More discussion to follow in April. This presentation would focus around the Emerging Threat and what we as a Site need to do to be successful.

1. Midland Tomorrow (Janee Valezquez)

Janee shared a presentation explaining what Midland Tomorrow is and how they assist both businesses and families within our Community. Their purpose is to enhance the quality of life in Midland County. They are involved with public relations concerning downtown development, parks, libraries, water projects, rail trail, fairgrounds entrance and many other areas that help to promote Midland County and to help make it a more appealing community to work and live in.

2. Dow Corning Sustainability  (Bill Gagliardi)

Bill provided an update on Dow Corning’s sustainability. He reviewed some key initiatives from 2003 and what we, as a company will continue to do in 2004. He explained our Vision and Corporate Values along with the responsibilities that our employees have. He also reviewed our Code of Business Conduct and the 3-horizons/2-brand strategy. The 2003 Sustainability Report should be completed sometime in May. A copy will be distributed to CAP members as soon as it is available.

3. Chamber activities & focus for 2004  (Brian Money)

Brian updated the CAP panel members on the focus of 2004 activities for the Chamber. This is his second year on the Board of Directors. Brian also assumed a co-chair role in the GIC (Governmental Issues Committee), and will be communicating on behalf of the manufacturing companies in Midland and throughout Michigan the need for a more competitive place to do business to compete in today’s marketplace.

4. Environmental Health & Safety Updates:  (Mike Snyder)

Mike reviewed the January Safety Statistics for the Midland Site.
