January meeting minutes were approved with correction to Midland Site Open
House (should be Thursday, May 19th.)

Rich Rausch commented on the tanker release. Mike Snyder will provide
follow-up at the March meeting.
1. State of the Plant (Ian O’Neil)
Ian’s presentation focused on Dow Corning’s Vision and the Strategic
Improvement Focus. We will be looking at ways to improve our Reliability &
Capability, Customer Service (cost of shipping) & Asset Utilization for the
Site. Successful negotiations will be a large factor for the Midland Site
employees impacting sustainability for DCC, Site & employees.
As a part of our ongoing Operational Excellence we had 88% of our salaried
workforce achieve their greenbelt certification for Six Sigma.
2. Update on 2004 Midland Site Contributions: (Brian Mowry)
Brian reviewed the 2004 contributions and donations. He briefly discussed the
purpose of the Midland Site team and their focus on education, safety, & the
environment. He also highlighted some of our most recent activities including
playground equipment for the Midland County ESA and the wood duck project for
elementary schools. The committee welcomes ideas on how they can continue to
strengthen our community. Please provide any comments or feedback to Brenda
Sauve.
