Helping Protect People…..Saving Lives

Two-way radios were donated to the Great Lakes Search and Rescue team. The team is a volunteer group that helps law enforcement and other emergency personnel in the Great Lakes region search for missing persons. The addition of the radios will improve communications for the team while in the field.

Cell Phones Find a New Home
The Midland Site donated over 50 used analog cell phones to the Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. The Council on Domestic Violence provides a variety of services for individuals who are involved in or have been involved in violent and abusive situations. Services include shelter, support and education to the residents of Midland and Gladwin counties.

The phones will be used by individuals who are in high-risk situations and in need of access to emergency assistance through 911.

Dow Corning Midland Site Scholarship Fund
The Midland Site awards five scholarships each year for students who are interested in pursuing careers in mathematics, engineering, research, statistics, finance or a related field with an emphasis in mathematics. In addition the site each year awards five scholarships for students who are interested in pursuing careers in science. One math and one science scholarship is awarded at each of the five Midland County High Schools.

The Chemical Technologies Professional Education Partnership
We recently established a partnership between Dow Corning, The Dow Chemical Company, the Saginaw Career Complex, Saginaw Public Schools and Delta College. The Partnership is committed to developing and supporting a regional chemical technologies career pathway to provide students with the skills and knowledge needed to obtain and sustain employment in the chemical industry or pursue continuing education based on industry needs.

Midland Soil and Conservation District
We helped fund a river clean up project which supported the removal of contaminated and unsightly debris. This is , which enhances water quality, improves wildlife habitats and encourages recreational usage.

Midland High School Science Laboratory
We contributed new lab coats to the Midland High School for use in their new science laboratory.
