The first facility at the plant, designed by Alden Dow and built in 1943. |
 |
The Midland plant was the first manufacturing facility built by Dow Corning.
Established in 1943, all manufacturing, research, sales and administrative
activities were originally housed in this facility to explore and develop the
new, exciting field of silicon technology.
The plant is located on South Saginaw Road directly across the street from The
Dow Chemical Company’s original manufacturing facility in Midland, Michigan.
The site employs 1,500 people from Midland and the surrounding communities and
manufactures thousands of high-performance silicon-based materials for use in
a wide range of products. The plant is a ISO 9001 registered manufacturing
facility, which means it meets the most stringent international quality
standards.
