Leading Solar…by Example
Next time you're flying over the Frankfurt area – look down! You will see
Dow Corning solar solutions in action.
Germany is one of the world’s fastest growing solar energy markets. This
makes Dow Corning’s Wiesbaden, Germany, plant an ideal location to showcase our
products.
Solar panels made from Dow Corning silicon are being installed on flat roofs
and selected facades of the site’s facilities. The solar modules are highly
visible in the area surrounding the plant in the Rhein-Main – one of the most
industrialized areas in Germany – as well as from airplanes using the
Frankfurt
International Airport. The power generated by the panels would be enough to
cover the average annual energy consumption of 35 families of four.
Solar Panels Power Scoreboard
Dow Corning and Hemlock Semiconductor Corporation (HSC), a joint venture of
Dow Corning, donated 168 solar panels to the new Dow Diamond baseball stadium
in Midland, Michigan. These solar panels will produce enough power to operate
the stadium’s huge, state-of-the-art scoreboard. The solar panels will be
connected to the stadium’s main power grid and will generate power year-round –
providing an innovative solution that addresses the need for renewable
energy.
