Corporate Executive Director and Chief Information Officer
As Chief Information Officer of The Dow Corning Corporation since 2001, Abbe
Mulders has led the company into a new era of leveraging information
technology to deliver value to customers. Under her leadership, the Advanced
Technologies and Ventures Business implemented the business KPI dashboard
using SAP and Lighthammer™ technologies – a development that has driven
behavior change within Dow Corning and garnered strong interest from other
manufacturing leaders. Ms. Mulder’s focus on converting IT investment into
direct customer value has led to global recognition of Dow Corning by SAP
America and SAP AG for creating “total lifetime customer value.”
Ms. Mulders also oversaw the implementation of Xiameter®, Dow Corning’s
web-based business model, which simplifies the buying process and eliminates
the added cost of sales and technical support for large volume customers. In
addition, she directed the plan for multi-generational order fulfillment
activities and synchronized it with plans for the restructuring of the Dow
Corning web site, ensuring that transacting business on www.dowcorning.com
will consistently build and maintain the company’s brand promises to customers
globally.
In 1979, Ms. Mulders joined Dow Corning as a programmer/analyst. Between 1979
and 1995, Ms. Mulders worked in progressively challenging roles from Team
Leader to Global Project Manager. In 1996, she was named manager of
Application Delivery and Support, where she managed a global team of
Application Development professionals. Ms. Mulders became the Director of BPIT
Consulting Services in 1999, which was an internal IT consulting organization
startup group. She was named to the CIO position in January 2001. Ms. Mulders
has been interviewed frequently by Chemical Week and CIO magazines, and was
named Chemical Week’s 2004 CIO of the Year.
A board member of CIDX (Chemical Industry Data Exchange), and the Information
Management Forum, Ms. Mulders is also Treasurer of Bay Futures, Inc., an
economic development board for Bay County, Michigan.
Abbe M. Mulders earned a bachelor’s degree in organizational management from
Central Michigan University and an associate’s degree in computer programming
from Delta College.
