Dow Corning Midland Plant – Giving Criteria

Representatives of the Dow Corning Midland Plant serve on the advisory committee for the Dow Corning Foundation Donor Advised Funds, which offer funding to organizations in Midland County, Michigan, that are qualified to receive tax-deductible gifts according to current U.S. tax regulations.

Types of community projects the Midland Plant supports

To maximize the benefit to the Midland community, the Midland Plant generally supports projects and programs that:

  • Benefit the residents of Midland County
  • Align with one or more of our giving focus areas: Community vitality, education and/or the environment
  • Have clearly defined goals, objectives and results
  • Leverage what local citizens are doing, or could do, to improve the quality of life – people solve problems; money only helps; consequently, we tend to support projects that involve community volunteers
  • Are sustainable – have an impact that extends beyond the funding period
  • Are collaborative in nature
  • Benefit a broad segment of the community, rather than small groups or individuals
  • Relate to programs rather than facilities; however, projects that contribute to both facilities and programs will be considered, when appropriate
  • Have strong community support and involve multiple contributors
The Midland Plant also awards scholarships for math/science and the skilled trades to Midland County high school seniors. For more information, including an application form, please contact your high school guidance counselor.
