Dow Corning On-Track to Achieve Employee Health & Safety
Goals
The Environment, Health & Safety Board at Dow Corning
launched five-year performance improvement goals in 2005, focusing
on:
-
Employee and process safety: aggressive reduction in injuries,
occupational illnesses and process incidents
-
Energy efficiency: reduce average greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions
through energy efficiency improvements, renewable energy and sequestration
efforts
-
Value recovery: drive toward zero waste and emissions through
reduction, conversion, recycle, reuse and recovery
-
Environmental compatibility: reduce the environmental impact of our
processes, products and technology
In this report, you will find clear examples of actions we are taking and
programs we are supporting in alignment with these goals. These initiatives
touch various areas of our business operations and range from simple day-to-day
activities like turning off lights… to bigger initiatives like eliminating
steps in the manufacturing process… transforming waste into new materials… and
collaborating with customers on sustainable solutions.
“Dow Corning’s focused commitment toward sustainability is not only
necessary, but is good business practice,” said Brett Able, vice president and
chief engineer. “Dow Corning upholds sustainability as fundamental to our
ongoing success.”
