Transformation is Both Beneficial and Beautiful
A letter from Stephanie Burns
The concept of transformation has captivated us at Dow Corning. We realize
the best way to advance our vision of sustainability is through an eagerness to
change. As a result, we are transforming our energy – our plans and our
processes – to give sustainability the focus it deserves.
Dow Corning has always thought strategically about sustainability, and
continues to work toward integrating it into everything we do. I believe
sustainability is not just a concept, but a way of life. Besides being a
smart business decision, it also serves the greater good. We must all transform
how we – as individuals… as corporations… and as partners in this global
community – share our resources responsibly while we continue to advance
science and technology.
Our five-year Environmental Health & Safety goals reflect our
commitment to sustainability
We have a solid portfolio of projects, but we realize we are still at the early
stages of integrating sustainability into our business planning and processes.
For instance, there are improvements to be made in the way we manage waste and
emissions.
We have achieved success in many areas and are working hard to duplicate
that around the globe.
-
We have made great progress in our efforts to make solar technology
a viable solution to today’s energy challenges.
-
We have also developed partnerships with the academic world to continue to
support advancements in technology. These are great accomplishments, but there
is more work to be done.
Advancements from the chemical industry add great value to society and are
essential to modern life as we know it. It’s our responsibility to provide for
future generations, and our employees embrace it with enthusiasm every day.
In this report, you will find how Dow Corning is creating a chain of
transformation that we believe will change the world around us for the
better.
