REACh (Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals), the most
significant change in the European Union’s (EU) chemical management history,
officially entered into force in June 2007. While REACh is a European Union
regulation, it applies to chemical substances coming into the region from
around the world, making the law a matter of global compliance.

REACh aims to better protect human health and the environment, enhance the
competitiveness of the chemical industry, and improve openness with the
public.
“At Dow Corning, we believe that our established commitment to Product
Stewardship and Responsible Care® will assist us in preparing for some of the
inevitable changes in the chemical industry and related supply chains,” said
James White, REACh program director. “Dow Corning fully supports the aims of
REACh and recognizes the importance of communicating about REACh compliance to
our customers and suppliers to minimize any disruption along the supply
chain.”
For successful compliance, Dow Corning has formed a cross-functional REACh
Readiness Team that includes experts from the commercial organization, research
& development, supply chain, procurement, legal compliance, information
technology and the business product line teams.
Dow Corning launched the REACh Resource Center on its web site (http://www.dowcorning.com/content/about/REACH.asp)
as part of a staged communication campaign to prepare for REACh.
