Dow Corning’s commitment to making a difference in the lives of everyone,
everywhere, extends to those with special needs. In Wiesbaden, Germany, the
company presented a monetary donation to “Zwerg Nase,” a facility that provides
support for children with developmental challenges. Wiesbaden employees then
worked with a local gym to raise more money by participating in a
“cycle-a-thon.” Named after a figure in a German fairy tale, the institution
provides support and relief for parents who care for their children with
special needs. The donations from Dow Corning were used to purchase children’s
hospital beds, which were urgently needed by the facility.

In Barry, Dow Corning provided a grant to help fund the Palmerston School’s
Multi-sensory Room. The school wanted to provide a place for children with
cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy to escape the pressures of the school day
and relax within an atmosphere that encourages physical movement and
coordination. The children are stimulated by light, sounds and touch, with the
help of special equipment. Also, there is a safe play area where children can
be free from their wheelchairs and move around in a protected area.
