Process:
In situ robotic dispensing of adhesive seals uses specialty one- and two-part silicone adhesive/sealants. Robot follows contour of component and applies precisely metered bead directly onto one surface. Unit is assembled and retained with fasteners while adhesive/sealant is in uncured stage. After short cure at high or room temperature (depending on product type), seal is ready for use.
Choosing a one- or two-part system:
-
One-part systems: room-temperature-curing adhesive/sealants generally requiring 24 hours or longer to cure
-
Two-part systems: generally used for lighting and other assembly processes that require short cure time
