Silicone + liquids
Silicone emulsions – stable blends of two “unblendable” liquids
Silicone fluid or polymer + emulsifying agent (surfactant) + water + optional additives
Silicone emulsions are easy to dilute and apply. They are also more
environmentally friendly than solvent-based liquids. Silicone emulsions are
often used as release agents, wetting agents, defoamers, problem-solving
additives for paints and coatings, water repellents for construction materials,
release coatings, textile treatments, and in the formulation of personal care,
household care, and auto care products.
Silicone dispersions – silicone + solvent
Solvent-borne silicones are used in a wide range of products and processes
as emulsifiers, antifoams, carriers for paint resins and additives, as
automotive and industrial lubricants, as conformal coatings for electronic
devices, as release agents and pressure sensitive adhesives, as fabric finishes
and penetrating water repellents.
