Protecting the Hangzhou Bay Bridge
The Hangzhou Bay Bridge, which spans the East China Sea, is constructed of
concrete and steel. Silicone water repellents were selected to protect this
important landmark from salt water corrosion, which could damage the structure
and deteriorate its appearance. Silicone water repellents penetrate the pores
of concrete and make the surface more resistant to water penetration.
Today, you will find silicone water repellents at work from the ports of
southern China to the highways in Beijing.
