Silicone conformal coatings from Dow Corning protect electronic printed circuit boards from moisture and contaminants, which can accelerate dendritic growth and the electromigration of metal between conductors and cause short circuits and corrosion of conductors and solder joints. In their elastomeric form, conformal coatings provide stress relief, while protecting the insulation resistance of PCBs. In their harder elastoplastic form, they also protect PCBs from abrasion and solvents.
Silicone conformal coatings from Dow Corning are available in many forms, from soft elastomers to rigid resins, and may be clear or translucent.
Conformal coatings provide:
-
Excellent dielectric properties
-
Temperature, oxidative and UV stability
-
Outstanding water repellency
-
Thermal shock and abrasion resistance
-
Good chemical stability, low toxicity
-
Rapid room temperature or heat cure
-
Easy application with standard equipment
-
Robust adhesion
-
Easy viscosity fine-tuning
