Dow Corning® Sealant Strips are formed from soft silicone gel impregnated into
an open cell foam. The silicone gel provides critical sealing and protection
properties. The open cell foam is used mainly as a carrier for the gel and
helps to add strength and dimensional stability.
Depending on the product type, strips may be provided in this basic form with
both sides tacky or one side of the gel can be supplied with Teflon, rubber or
foam backing. Backing materials increase the strength, abrasion resistance
and ease of handling of the strips. Versions are also available with added
flame resistance and UV stability. Sealant strips can be provided in roll
form or pre-cut shapes in all forms with backing materials. The unbacked
strips are provided in roll form only. Various widths and thicknesses are
available for the different strip products.
