The pads and strips are cold-applied, like conventional tapes and
grommets or gaskets, yet they have sealing capabilities similar to
high-performance potting compounds and are superior in conformability to
traditional elastomeric gaskets. The materials are unique among
high-performance sealing materials because of their ease of use and ability to
conform, coat and self-heal, yet still be easily
re-entered.

Consider
products:
For sealing pins within connectors
That are designated as “sealant pads”; a firmer gel in the middle layer of
the pad offers easier handling, while a softer gel enables better sealing and
lower insertion forces
For other sealing tasks as alternatives to conformal coatings, pottants and
adhesives
Designated as “sealant strips”
To use as a low-pressure gasket
Designated as “sealant strips”
With easier handling characteristics
With drier surfaces such as sealant pads
With added abrasion resistance to the nonsealing surface
That are Teflon™ backed
Cut to custom shapes
Designated as “sealant strips,” except for those unbacked on both sides
For use when there are potential fire hazards
With flame resistance properties
With added adhesion
That are tacky on at least one side
With a nontacky rubber backing on one side
Such as GT-1020
With low compression values
Such as GT-1030, which uses an open-cell foam backing on one side
For wraparound protection
Such as GT-1000 with both sides tacky
