MIDLAND, MICHIGAN, USA – Dow Corning Corporation will offer a
three-hour workshop on silicone release coatings at the 2007 Global Release
Liner Industry Conference on Wednesday, March 28, at the Hyatt Rosemont Hotel
in Chicago, Illinois, USA. This workshop is free to registered attendees at the
conference.
Dow Corning technical service experts Lori Jones and Norm Kanar will lead
Workshop A, which begins at 2 p.m. Topics will include:

A description of the role of formulation components and how they can affect
performance

Trends in pressure sensitive release markets and how they have impacted
recent development activities by market segment and by technology

How to formulate or select materials to provide the desired performance
coatability, cure, release, and stability

Equipment for application of silicone release coatings
Jones, who has held technical service and development roles in pressure
sensitive adhesives and release coatings for over 20 years, is an Associate
Industry Scientist for Dow Corning’s pressure sensitive adhesives industry. She
authored the chapter on “Silicone Pressure Sensitive Adhesives” in Satas’
Handbook of Pressure Sensitive Adhesive Technology. In addition, she
holds several patents in fluorosilicone release and other release
technologies.
Norm Kanar is the Americas Area Market Manager for release coatings and
pressure sensitive adhesives. In his 10 years with Dow Corning, Kanar has also
served in Process Engineering and held manufacturing roles with Dow Corning’s
Specialty Chemicals Business. He is a member of the American Institute of
Chemical Engineers and has a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from
Michigan State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from
the University of Michigan.
