Dow Corning eco softener magnetized Asia’s “fashion cradle”

| From March 12-14, Dow Corning introduced its
latest eco innovative product, Dow Corning® GP 8000 Eco Softener, at Hong
Kong’s Interstoff Asia Essential. Dow Corning’s exhibit was a perfect
match for organizer’s overall theme with a focus on eco textiles, processing,
and technologies. During the exhibition seminar session, Peter
Wu, technical leader for the Asia Textile Industry, presented a paper
titled Breakthrough technology to process denim that saves water, energy. Both
the exhibit and the seminar aroused tremendous interest from buyers, brand
specifiers and textile manufacturers. |

| “Dow Corning views the Asian region and China as
one of the high priority geographies with the potential for significant growth
over the next several years. Being one of the largest energy consumers in the
world, China is more aware of the eco-impact of its high-growth industries
across the country,” said Anthony Feng, global industry director
for Dow Corning Textiles and Leather. |
Dow Corning introduced this eco innovative product to the China textile
industry in late 2007. The use of this new breakthrough technology can create
significant advantages over traditional softening methods, such as reduction in
utility costs, energy requirements, and water usage, as much as 15 liters per
pair of jeans, as well as increased productivity. “China, producing about 30
percent of the world’s denim in volume, could save up to 7.5 billion liters of
process water annually using this technology. Dow Corning® GP 8000 Eco Softener
has received positive market response,” Mr. Feng added.
As Asia’s “fashion cradle,” Hong Kong is the primary platform for garment
manufacturers, fashion designers, trend forecasters and textile traders. This
show also attracted industrial buyers all over the world looking for innovative
products. By leveraging this important platform, Dow Corning will contribute
vast expertise and eco innovative capabilities, which go far beyond that of a
materials supplier, to fulfill its commitment to environmentally friendly
products and solutions in Asia. |
