Dow Corning Executive VP Discusses Domestic Renewable Energy at American Power Act Announcement
Dow Corning executive vice
president and general manager of Core Products, Bob Hansen, was recently in
Washington, D.C. during the unveiling of Senator Kerry and Lieberman’s American
Power Act, representing the company’s support for the elements of the proposal
which encourage further development of domestic renewable energy manufacturing
and implementation.
“The legislative outline unveiled today by Senators Kerry and Lieberman are
encouraging, and we look forward to participating in the process that
ultimately results in a comprehensive energy bill,” said Hansen.
During the announcement, Hansen discussed Dow Corning’s role in
growing U.S. manufacturing and production of renewable energy sources,
including the approximately $5 billion in domestic investments in solar energy
technology with its joint ventures, the Hemlock Semiconductor Group. He
encouraged legislation to adopt provisions to ensure that the products
necessary to meet increased domestic demand for alternative energies are
manufactured in the U.S. to help develop and enact an energy security and
environmental sustainability solution.
