Dow Corning Foundation Approves over $175,000 in U.S. Grants for Q2 2012
(Midland, MI) - The Dow Corning
Foundation recently approved a total of just over $175,000 in funding to
support organizations in Michigan, Tennessee and Kentucky. Established in 1981,
the Dow Corning Foundation is an endowed fund supported by contributions
from Dow Corning
Corporation and Hemlock
Semiconductor Group.
The Foundation’s mission is to improve scientific literacy by increasing access
to math, science and technology education at the pre-university level, improve
vitality and quality of life in communities where Dow Corning and Hemlock
Semiconductor employees work and reside, and to improve awareness and increased
utilization of sustainable, innovative technologies to benefit society.

In addition to these grants, the Dow Corning Foundation has also
established Donor
Advised Funds with each of the Midland, Bay and Saginaw Community
Foundations. The Dow Corning Foundation Donor Advised Funds Committee,
comprised of Dow Corning and Hemlock Semiconductor employees, directs
$150,000 annually in the Great Lakes Bay Region through these Funds.
Some of the organizations benefitting from the Donor Advised grants include:
NEMSCA Headstart; Possibility Explorers; St John’s Lutheran School, YWCA Great
Lakes Bay Region; Eastlawn Elementary School; H.H. Dow High; Midland Community
Foundation/Santa House; Saginaw High FIRST Robotics Program; Girl Scouts Heart
of Michigan and the Youth First Initiative. For information on applying to
