Bloemhard Presents Innovation through Collaboration to China's
Entrepreneurs
Jeroen Bloemhard, Global Industry Executive Director for Electronics,
recently attended China Electronics Summit 2006 held by the Electronic and
Information Products Management Department of the Ministry of Information
Industry in Shanghai, China. The summit was entitled "Innovation:China's
Opportunities and Future Road for the Electronic Manufacturing
Industry."
The Electronic Manufacturing Industry in China has become an important
driving force for the country's GDP. However, many OEMs are not competitive and
profitable because of the lack of core technology. Innovation, which is even
referred to as a national policy, is a must in order for enterprises to emerge
from their difficulties.
Jeroen's presentation was titled "Innovation through Collaboration:
Working Together for Success in China's Electronics Industry." In his
speech, Jeroen explained the important role that Dow Corning plays in the
global electronics industry and its support of the success of electronics OEMs
and suppliers in Greater China. He emphasized that our involvement in many
other industries and our global capabilities allow us to provide solutions for
our electronics customers that go well beyond products.
He highlighted some of the challenges that we face today in terms of energy
conservation and innovation for competitiveness. These two goals are not only
set by the industry but also by the Chinese Government in its 11th Five Year
Plan. Dow Corning is willing to help the Chinese government meet its long-term
goals and help our customers innovate and grow by supplying a wide range of
materials and solutions for electronics applications.
Through a few examples of Dow Corning's collaboration with customers, Jeroen
also showcased many potential opportunities in which the company has delivered
tailor-made, high-yielding and low-cost solutions to customers.
As a conclusion to the speech, Jeroen said, "We believe that we can
truly support the growth and innovation of China's electronics industry through
extensive technical and market knowledge and solutions, as well as by utilizing
a business model that allows us to contribute our unique capabilities to the
specific innovation-related goals of our electronics customers in
China."
About 200 people attended the forum. They consisted of officials from the
Ministry of Information Industry (MII), CEOs and CTOs of leading electronic
enterprises and semiconductor manufacturing companies, and leading industry
experts and analysts.
