Dow Corning has been selected to receive the prestigious 2006 Intel
Preferred Quality Supplier (PQS) award. Dow Corning is a five time winner of
this award, recognizing the outstanding quality of electronics materials
supplied to Intel. The supply chain team responsible for these materials worked
closely with Intel engineers and statisticians to exhaustively demonstrate the
robustness of Dow Corning processes. As a result, Intel clearly views Dow
Corning as one of its most reliable material providers; Dow Corning was one of
only 43 out of 10,000 Intel suppliers to earn PQS status this year.
The PQS award is part of Intel’s Supplier Continuous Quality Improvement
(SCQI) process. It encourages suppliers to strive for excellence and continuous
improvement. To qualify for PQS status, suppliers must score at least 80
percent on a report card that assesses performance and ability to meet cost,
quality, availability, delivery, technology and responsiveness goals. Suppliers
must also manage and deliver on a challenging improvement plan and a quality
systems assessment.
"The 2006 PQS Award was given to Dow Corning for their excellent support
of product ramps with no quality or availability issues. Dow Corning support on
Intel platforms and next generation thermally conductive sealants has been
outstanding," said Jeff Selvala, director of Assembly and Test, Global
Materials at Intel.
In announcing the award, Geoff Gardner, Intel Global Account Manager for Dow
Corning, said, “Intel’s recognition of Dow Corning as a quality supplier gives
us an advantage in maintaining our incumbency and in winning new applications
with this key account. Mark Dobrzelewski, Sherrie Wegener, Steve Chovanec, Andy
Mojica, David Ha and Greg Becker of our Auburn site supply chain team are to be
congratulated for their effort and dedication.”
Arthur Hanlon, Global Sales and Application Engineering Director, added,
“It’s a clear example of converting the quality of our supply chain into an
improved business position. Receiving this type of recognition from Intel is
one more demonstration of the world-class capability, dedication and commitment
of Dow Corning. This will certainly continue to put us in a differentiated
supplier position.”
