Hemlock Semiconductor CEO and Chairman of the Board Doornbos Retires
Hemlock, Mich., USA: Richard S. Doornbos (Rick), chief executive
officer of Hemlock Semiconductor Group, announced his retirement effective
February 29, 2012.
Doornbos, who was named CEO
in 2006, spearheaded more than $4.5 billion of investment at Hemlock
Semiconductor resulting in expansion of the existing Hemlock, Michigan site,
and selection and construction of a second production site in Clarksville,
Tennessee – enabling a fourfold increase in revenue over the last five years.
He also provided leadership for expanding Hemlock Semiconductor’s global
customer portfolio in both the semiconductor and solar segments, advancement of
key polysilicon manufacturing technologies and productivity improvements, and
the implementation of organizational and infrastructure upgrades to support
future growth opportunities.
“Rick’s leadership during a period of unprecedented growth has driven
Hemlock Semiconductor into a new era,” said Bob Hansen, president and CEO of
Dow Corning. “We will miss the passion, expertise and experience Rick
provided in his 33 years with Dow Corning and Hemlock Semiconductor and we
wish him the best in his retirement.”
Doornbos joined Dow Corning in 1979 as a chemical engineer and prior to
his current role as CEO of Hemlock Semiconductor Group held a variety of
leadership positions within process engineering, supply chain, economic
evaluation, corporate finance, product line and regional management. He holds a
Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the University of
Michigan.
