MIDLAND, MICHIGAN, USA: Dow Corning Corporation coating industry
specialist, Cristina Alves Deangelo, will present at ABRAFATI 2007, the 10th
International Coatings Congress this October in São Paulo, Brazil.
Deangelo’s presentation – titled “Silicone Organic Hybrid Coatings for the
Industrial Maintenance Market” – will examine the use of silicone-epoxy coating
systems for industrial applications. “The utility of silicone-organic resin
binder hybrid technology has enjoyed rapid growth in the protective coatings
markets,” explains Deangelo. “A wide array of chemistries and applications
provides opportunities for unique combinations and benefits to the end-user.
This technology benefits everyone in the value chain: raw material supplier,
coating formulator, applicator, and the end-user.”
Deangelo will also discuss how readily accessible test methods can be used
to characterize silicone hybrids and communicate the expected level of
performance, allowing users to select the appropriate coating system for their
targeted applications.
Deangelo has worked for Dow Corning do Brazil, Ltda., for more than 10
years. She has held numerous roles within the coatings industry with a focus on
silicone and silane applications. She is a technical expert in a number of
material and compound research fields, including polymers, fillers, coupling
agents, composites, and thermoplastics. Deangelo holds a master’s degree in
polymer chemistry.
