At the Pressure Sensitive Tape Council’s Tech 30 Global Conference VI, Dow
Corning Release Coatings and Pressure Sensitive Adhesives Application Engineer
Peter T. Vert will present “Paper or Plastic? New Developments in Siliconizing
Filmic Substrates.” The conference will take place this May, in Orlando,
Florida, USA.
According to Vert, there are many inherent advantages in the use of films
for silicone release liners. The advantages of using filmic liners
include better die cutting performance, potential to reduce silicone coat
weight, and high speed conversion without web breaks.
“These advantages make filmic release liners ideal for application trends
such as ‘clear-on-clear’ labels for the beverage and personal care markets,”
Vert said. “Films are the fastest growing segment of the release liner
market.”
In his presentation, Vert will explore the benefits and challenges in
release coating filmic substrates. He also will review the trends toward
using films and discuss new developments in silicones that make coating films
more practical and cost effective.
The PSTC Tech 30 Global Conference VI, which is part of PSTC’s annual Week
of Learning, will take place May 16-18, 2007, at the Hyatt Regency Grand
Cypress in Orlando, Florida, USA.
Dow Corning will also participate in the Exhibit Showcase from 11 a.m. to 2
p.m., May 17, booth 208.
