Dow Corning Introduces a Unique Additive for High-Performance
Water-Based Inks and Coatings
|
Looking for a way to develop water-based inks and coatings with performance
traditionally associated with solvent-based systems?
Dow Corning®
67 Additive (PDF size = 456KB) enables
spontaneous wetting of even the most difficult-to-coat substrates, such as PVC
foil and other plastics. This property enables the formulation of
high-performance water-based inks and coatings, giving your customers better
solutions for their demanding applications.
Dow Corning 67 Additive
Performance Benefits:
-
100% organo-modified silicone
-
Low static/dynamic surface tension
-
Ideal for enabling wetting of difficult substrates, such as PVC foil and
other plastics
-
Lowers the surface tension of the coating, which allows wetting of
low-energy substrates
-
Very low dynamic surface tension allows high-speed printing processes
-
Improves wetting during spray application
-
Prevents cratering typically caused by poor wetting or contaminants
-
Reduces the need for organic solvents
-
Does not increase coefficient of friction
-
Has no negative effect on recoatability
Applications for

-
Floor coating, cleaning agents (based on acrylate- and styrene
acrylate-dispersions) to replace fluoro surfactants
Elimination
of Surface Defects in Wood Coatings Based on Acrylate/PU
Dispersion
Very often waterborne wood coatings have a high
surface tension that causes surface defects such as craters when the coating is
applied on contaminated (e.g. by adhesives) or inhomogeneous wood substrates.
Dow Corning 67 Additive functions as an anti-crater additive,
lowering the surface tension and improving the substrate wetting.
