Silicone
structural glazing offers outstanding design versatility with or without
mechanical fixations. Dramatic and functional building facades are made
possible using glass, metal, stone, ceramic, and composite
panels.
Silicone structural glazing bonding adhesives and sealants from Dow Corning
are designed to adhesively bond facade materials onto a curtainwall frame. This
permits maximised building transparency through reduction or removal of
mechanical fixation. Additionally, silicone structural adhesives facilitate
improved thermal performance and increased protection from extreme weather
conditions, seismic activity, fire, and explosions.
Dow Corning provides silicone solutions that carry the CE mark and are
qualified to the European Technical Approval (ETA), based upon the European
guideline for structural glazing (European Technical Approval Guideline - ETAG
002).
Glass cleaning maintenance is simplified by reducing the number of frame
components required, and new product options include sealants compatible with
self-cleaning glass -- resulting in cost savings over the building life
cycle.
