Supply
tough, dependable CVJ boots that keep grease in and trouble out
A good constant velocity joint (CVJ), or homokinetic joint, will perform as
long as the boot that protects it.
With proven Silastic® brand silicone elastomers and custom compounding support from
Dow Corning, you can fabricate CVJ boots that:
-
Are grease resistant -- keep grease from leaking out
-
Prevent damaging dirt, water, and road deicing salt from getting in
-
Extend CV joint life and reduce maintenance
Silastic silicone elastomers:
-
Have tough rubber
capabilities
-
Resist deformation at high-speed shaft
revolutions
-
Maintain their mechanical properties and grease resistance over a wide range of temperatures, from -40 to
200ºC (-40 to 392ºF) -- temperatures that would defeat organic elastomers.
This makes them the material of choice for CVJ boots, homokinetic joint
boots, steering shaft joint covers, steering angle correction covers, and
transmission applications.
Add
long-life value and trouble-free performance

Manufacture CVJ boots that:
-
Perform over a wide temperature range -- from summer heat to winter
cold
-
Give you greater flexibility in engine layout and design -- can be placed
close to hot metal
-
Maintain their flexibility and resiliency
-
Last longer

Start with the right elastomer
For CVJ boots, we recommend a
high-consistency rubber (HCR) elastomer or a liquid silicone rubber (LSR) with
a durometer between 50 and 70 Shore A and excellent physical properties, which
can withstand temperatures as high as 232º C (450º F) and is able to be easily
molded in compression, transfer, or injection molding machines.
Take advantage of our compounding expertise
We can tailor or custom compound a proven silicone elastomer to help you
achieve the best processing efficiency and performance value.
