Automotive Diaphragms Solutions

Consistent flexibility.  Temperature and fuel resistance.

Fabricate diaphragms and ADBVs that resist fuels, oils, solvents, flex fatigue and compression set at extreme temperatures. Use Silastic FSR to improve diaphragm performance.


Maintain diaphragm shape and fuel resistance through extreme heat and cold

Specify and fabricate elastomeric diaphragms that:

  • Deliver the same level of flexibility in conditions of extreme heat and extreme cold
  • Stand up to repeated flexing over a wide temperature range without stress cracking
  • Resist prolonged immersion in gasoline or diesel fuel when necessary 

Silastic® brand fluorosilicone rubber (FSR) elastomers:

  • Resist fuels, oils, and solvents that would degrade organic rubbers
  • Resist compression set and flex fatigue under exposure to harsh fluids and extreme temperatures
  • Maintain their tear and tensile strengths in hostile service environments
  • Maintain their mechanical properties over a wide range of temperatures, from -40 to 200º C (-40 to 392º F)
  • Can be custom compounded to meet your requirements for heat aging, fuel resistance, and swelling characteristics

This makes them the ideal material for automotive diaphragms and anti-drainback (ADBV) and transducer applications where fuel resistance and flex fatigue resistance are critical.

Start with the right elastomer

For automotive diaphragms, we recommend a compound of high consistency rubber (HCR) or fluorosilicone rubber (FSR) elastomer formulated for molding or calendar processes with properties designed to perform at low and high temperatures with little change in sensitivity (modulus).
