Today, Dow Corning produces metallurgical, solar and semiconductor grade
silicon feedstock materials. For customers, this means that Dow Corning can
provide options, consistent supply and new products to improve
cost-effectiveness, availability, performance and durability of PV devices. Our
solar grade silicon metal is produced at Dow Corning’s advanced metallurgy
facility in Brazil.
Polycrystalline silicon is produced at our joint venture, Hemlock Semiconductor Corporation (HSC),
the world’s largest producer of polycrystalline silicon and the leading silicon
feedstock supplier to the semiconductor and solar photovoltaic industries.
Product Highlight
Dow Corning® PV 1101 SoG Silicon is the first-ever,
industrial-scale silicon feedstock material, commercially available from a
facility dedicated to solar, that can be blended with polycrystalline silicon
and exhibit solar cell performance characteristics equivalent to pure
polysilicon.
This revolutionary achievement has been confirmed not just
by internal testing, but also by testing at customer sites and in academia at
the University of Konstanz and the Fraunhofer Institute in Germany. Dow Corning
PV 1101 SoG blend with poly demonstrated equivalent PV cell performance to 100
percent poly references.
Dow Corning PV 1101 SoG Silicon offers:
-
A feedstock source dedicated to
PV
-
High performance
-
