Monosilane
options for thin film solar manufacturing
With a continuing commitment to the solar industry, Dow Corning is
investing in manufacturing facilities to produce high-purity monosilane, a key
specialty gas used in the manufacture of thin film solar cells, crystalline PV
cell coatings and liquid crystal displays. This investment includes
construction of a new monosilane manufacturing facility in Hemlock, Michigan,
adjacent to joint-ventures Hemlock Semiconductor Group’s polysilicon
manufacturing site. The new world-class facility is specifically designed to
ensure process safety and security of supply.
The new manufacturing facility will strengthen Dow Corning’s offerings
in the solar industry. The addition of monosilane for thin film solar
technology, coupled with recent investments in production of solar- and
semiconductor-grade polysilicon, expands Dow Corning’s offering and
ensures new options for solar customers worldwide.
