Why is Dow Corning making this change?

The changes we are making are a result of customer input. We've heard you and other customers say they want more innovation from Dow Corning. We've also heard customers say they want more cost-effective products from Dow Corning. The changes we are making give us the capability to deliver both.

Since we launched our XIAMETER^® business seven years ago, it has proved very successful in providing our customers with a long-term business advantage. Now we are expanding that business model to provide an even more robust and fully cost-effective solution for our standard products. And because we're able to sell standard silicones more economically through the XIAMETER brand, we'll be able to devote more of our Dow Corning brand resources to innovation, complex problem-solving, and application development.

What's in it for me?

When you need innovative solutions in the form of specialty silicones and other silicon-based materials, the Dow Corning brand will continue to give you an edge in the marketplace by delivering higher value for your applications with our custom formulations, and high-performance products and solutions. We are leveraging our innovation in materials and service with our deep market insight to help solve your toughest challenges in a sustainable way.

For all your standard silicone needs, you'll find our XIAMETER brand online ordering platform to be a highly convenient way to access a broad range of products. In additional to large volume orders, you now have the option to purchase smaller order quantities with credit terms options. You can also purchase XIAMETER^® products through a local distributor.

By purchasing through the XIAMETER brand you will have a new option for supply agreements which will allow you to secure price or volume. In other words, you will gain exactly what you have told us you need—high quality standard silicone products at market-driven prices.

What's the difference between "standard" silicones and "specialty" silicones?

Standard silicones are commonly used products that are available in the marketplace from a number of suppliers and which require little to no specialized formulation or product assistance. Specialty silicones, on the other hand, are unique materials with unique properties and performance capabilities.

Under the enhanced business model, we'll market our specialty silicones exclusively under the Dow Corning brand, and sell standard silicones exclusively through the XIAMETER brand.

What products and/or categories are affected by this change?

To keep it simple for you, once the transition is complete, standard silicone products previously sold under the Dow Corning brand name will only be available through the XIAMETER brand.

Product lines to be sold under the XIAMETER brand include dimethyl emulsions, dimethyl fluids, organofunctional silanes, rubber bases and compounds, do-it-yourself (DIY) and professional building trade sealants.

The Dow Corning brand will continue to be your source for innovative specialty materials and services. Our other specialized product brands, such as Molykote^® and Silastic^® will continue to be offered to you.

What will not change?

Even though brand and product names will change, materials sold through the XIAMETER brand will be manufactured to the same standards—and on the same manufacturing equipment—as they always have been. The chemical make up of the materials remains the same.

And, of course, you can depend on Dow Corning's passion for innovation. When customers need innovative solutions in the form of specialty silicones and other silicon-based materials, the Dow Corning brand will continue to give its customers an edge in the marketplace by delivering higher value for applications with our custom formulations, and high-performance products and solutions.

Do I have to purchase from both the Dow Corning and XIAMETER brand separately?

All specialty silicones can still be ordered directly from the Dow Corning brand in the same method you purchase today.

In order to provide you with the most cost effective options, purchases for standard silicones will be ordered from the XIAMETER brand at www.xiameter.com. This will ensure proper processing of orders including order confirmations, shipping notifications and invoicing.

For those customers who don’t have access to the Internet, XIAMETER^® customer service representatives will enter XIAMETER^® orders by telephone for a slight surcharge.

When will I be able to access the wider range of XIAMETER brand products?

You are now able to buy from a selection of 2,100 products in the expanded XIAMETER^® line at www.xiameter.com or through a local distributor–depending on the volumes you want to buy.
