A food processing plant was using a custom-built gearbox. It functioned at higher then normal temperatures and required an ester-containing synthetic oil because it needed to be compliant with FDA rules due to its close proximity to food.
The oil broke down often and required frequent changes. This was a costly and time-consuming operation. The plant switched to Molykote L-1115FG, a synthetic oil custom blended for the plant.
